Joomla 3.5: New Media Manager
Buddhima Wijeweerahas been working on a new media manager.
Introduction for new Joomla! 3.5 media managerMedia handling is an important feature in every CMS. In Joomla! media handling is mainly carrying out through its Media Manager. Because of that importance there have been several discussions carried out in cms-dev-mailing list [1]with ideas about how to improve Media Manager. The necessity of this also highlighted by including “improving Media Manager” as a project in GSoC idea list in year 2009 [2], 2012 [3], and 2013 [4]. Moreover recently this idea has been also added to Joomla! Roadmap [7] (for Joomla! 3.9). Though this idea has been described in different words, it was clear that this is not just refactoring existing Media Manager UI, but focused on refactoring internal coding, adding new features and improving user experience.
With this project, Buddhima introduced 12 new things to Media Manager. He has constructed a document describing this project in detail(Check here: New Media Manager For Joomla! 3.5 CMS).

Joomla 3.5 New routing system
This has been on the table for a long time, but it looks as if there may possibly be URL improvements in Joomla 3.5.
Last year, Hannes Papenburg held a crowd-funding campaign to help him work on URL improvements. Hannes has now submitted some of that code.
It remains to be seen how much of the work makes it into Joomla 3.5, but there are signs of progress.
What’s Joomla 3.5’s release date?
The official documents say only that Data is tba (to be announced) so all that we can do is to keep an eye on the development repository and support volunteers as they perform their testing to see when things are coming together
